'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' host, Ty Pennington, will be placed on probation for three years, pay a $1,500 fine and attend an alcohol-education program after pleading no contest Friday, to a DUI charge.
Prosecutors agreed to drop a second charge in exchange for the plea.
According to reports, Pennington’s blood alcohol level was .14 percent, well above California’s legal limit of. .08 percent when he was pulled over by police in the wee hours of May 5. "I'm happy to bring closure to my recent court proceedings," says the 41-year-old Sears pitchman and former "Trading Spaces" carpenter in a statement.
"Drinking and driving is never acceptable. I have pleaded no contest and will abide by the court's ruling. I hope this experience can help others as much as it has helped me", he says. |
