Suspected DUI driver strikes several parked vehicles and 3 residences.

Date of Occurrence: July 17, 2008
Time of Occurrence: 11:48 p.m.
Location of Incident: 1800 block of Massachusetts Avenue in the City Of Lemon Grove

On July 17, 2008, at about 11:48 p.m. deputies from the Sheriff's Lemon Grove Station responded to a serious vehicle collision involving a vehicle into a house in the 1800 block of Massachusetts Avenue. When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that an SUV with a suspected intoxicated driver had lost control and struck three (3) separate residences.

After striking the first residence at 1874 Massachusetts Avenue, the SUV became airborne and went over a small pick-up truck, parked in the driveway of the second residence at 1866 Massachuesetts Avenue. The SUV then struck a second vehicle in this same driveway, causing it to flip over. The SUV continued on through a second residence's garage and
damaged the back portion of the garage and part of the kitchen. The SUV came to a stop, when it struck a third vehicle located in the driveway of the third residence at 1858 Massachusetts Avenue. The male driver and female passenger of the SUV exited and appeared somewhat confused. When traffic deputies arrived on scene and contacted the two
occupants, the male driver was taken into custody for driving under the influence (DUI). The suspect was later transported to Mercy Hospital for possible internal injuries. The female passenger was also transported to Mercy Hospital with complaints of back pain.

Traffic investigators are continuing their investigation and no other individuals were injured.
On July 18, 2008, deputies learned the male driver and his passenger did not sustain any life-threatening injuries. The driver, identified as Rahin Mitchell (32 years old) will be charged with felony DUI. He is currently on probation for two prior DUI arrests.
